about

Who wouldn't want to write a power pop/punk song inspired by Sylvia Plath? For my ISP in my writer's craft class we were asked to study an author. I chose Sylvia Plath. We had to write two creative pieces inspired by our authors and this is one of mine :). The "chorus" of this song is an excerpt of a poem titled "Epitaph for Fire and Flower". Enjoy!

lyrics

You, you are so clever you make my mind hurt,
with all of these mixed signals.
'Cause you say that you love me,
but then you want to fight me?
This is a mad girl's love song to you.

Because you fixed me
temporarily.
Our love is failing, we've reached the end of the line.

"Seek no stony camera- eye to fix
The passing dazzle of each face
In black and white, or put on ice
Mouth's instant flare for future looks"

Because you fixed me
temporarily.
Our love is failing, we've reached the end of the line.

"Seek no stony camera- eye to fix
The passing dazzle of each face
In black and white, or put on ice
Mouth's instant flare for future looks"

And my heart will grow cold without you to love.
And my arms will grow numb without you to hold.
And my face stale with tears becasue our love is gone,
But I'll be okay 'cause I knew it wouldn't last long anyway.
